Gorgeous Edwardian 15ct yellow gold sapphire and seed pearl lavaliere pendant set with an old-cut sapphire suspended at the centre of an open teardrop frame. The sapphire is a soft, pale cornflower blue colour characteristic of the period. The sapphire weighs approximately 1ct and is held on a short stem dropping from a small foliate motif at the top of the frame. The teardrop outline is decorated throughout with milgrain-edged collet-set pale white spinel and small seed pearls set at intervals in delicate flower-shaped mounts, typical of Edwardian jewellery of this type. A small bow motif set with a seed pearl sits at the top of the bale, a further characteristic detail of the period. Comes with a vintage 9ct gold belcher chain, 16 inches in length.
