Tanzanite & Diamond Ring | 18ct Gold

£799.00

An elegant ring featuring a central oval-cut tanzanite of approximately 0.74ct, with sparkling diamond shoulders totalling approximately 0.13ct. Set in 18ct gold, the tanzanite's striking violet-blue hue is beautifully set off by the diamond detailing, making this a distinctive and eye-catching ring.

About Tanzanite

Tanzanite is a striking blue-violet variety of the mineral zoisite, prized for its unique colour that shifts between blue, violet and burgundy depending on the angle of light, a phenomenon known as pleochroism. First discovered in 1967 near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, it remains found in only one location on Earth, making it significantly rarer than gemstones such as sapphire or ruby, despite often being compared to them for its rich blue tones.

Ranking 6–7 on the Mohs hardness scale, tanzanite is softer than sapphire or diamond, so while well suited to a ring worn with reasonable care, it benefits from being protected from hard knocks, making a supportive setting like this one, with diamond shoulders either side, a practical choice as well as a decorative one. Tanzanite is the modern birthstone for December alongside turquoise and zircon, and its rarity and vivid colour have made it an increasingly popular choice for engagement rings and statement jewellery alike.
