Resizing is complimentary on rings purchased over £1,000. For rings under £500, a resizing fee of £60 or more applies. We will always advise you of any challenges before any work is undertaken.

Vintage Rose Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring

Lovely vintage rose cut diamond solitaire ring, set with a single rose cut diamond measuring approximately 5mm across in a decorative openwork setting. The diamond is claw set within a pierced, scalloped head with shaped shoulders, a style typical of antique and early twentieth century rings. The rose cut and the open setting give it a soft, characterful sparkle quite different from a modern brilliant.

What is a rose cut diamond?
A rose cut is an early diamond cutting style, used from the sixteenth century onwards and popular in antique jewellery. Instead of the many facets and pointed base of a modern brilliant, a rose cut has a flat base and a domed top covered in triangular facets, said to resemble the petals of an opening rosebud. It gives a softer, gentler sparkle and a larger looking stone for its weight, and is valued today for its antique character.
